Sealed to the handle for greater sanitation, the high carbon, corrosion resistant Duo-Edge stainless steel blade has an individually ground and honed edge. When cutting meat, the grooves in its granton-edged blade fill with fat and juices that might inhibit a smooth cut, to allow more contact between the meat and the blade.
Ergonomic Grip
Its incredibly comfortable, high-impact handle is unlike any other; built for all-day use, this knife has an ergonomic grip that will stay put in slippery hands or on slick tabletops. Backed by Dexter's Lifetime Guarantee, this knife is a great addition to any kitchen.

I love this little blade, but there are a few details that I wish I had known before I made my soule purchase, so I'd like to pass along some observations.
Firstly, the grip is fantastic. There's a swell in the middle that not only aligns the blade in the hand, but also ensures firm grip. The santoprene material is tacky even when wet, so when doing things like washing hands between tasks, or trimming meat the knife c status alt in hand. That said, the unusual blade shape is sharp along the bottom edge so choking up into a pinch grip can leave that edge grating the middle finger. It can be learned and maneuvered around, but there is a learning curve required. Also, because of they unique shape, in learning to use the nose one can spicy a few Read More

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, so gripping things can be painful. This knife has an aggressively textured rubber grip which requires much less grip force to hold securely. The grip is smaller than the DuoGlide Chef Knife, which may appeal to some people, but I have large hands and prefer the larger handle. This handle might be the right size for a paring knife which uses a different style grip, or for someone with smaller hands. I find I usually use the Chef Knife because I tend to do large batches on days I'm feeling less sore.

I love utility knives especially Dexter-Russell brand knives. They are perfectly sized for anyone's hand and sharp, they're also pretty good looking. Non of that informercial trash product here.

I bought this because I loved my Dexter-Russell paring knife and I wanted to match it. I love this knife. My favorite feature is how the blade extends back and away from the handle. It cuts easily and stays sharp a long, long time. The handle is soft in your palm and firm enough for total control. It's a cool looking knife and will make you cooler too! LOL! I used to have to bring my expensive Japanese Santoku knife to work from home, but I don't need to anymore. We say buy it. Jeff

This knife I order because I wanted to cut small things like onions and tomatoes. I really like these types of knifes. I also have a big version of this knife and it is AWESOME

Purchased this knife because of the softer handle and hoping it would be useful for hands developing arthritis. The handle feels comfortable but is definitely a bit shorter than I would prefer. I suspect I would have been happier with the larger chef's knife Duo-Glide. This knife cuts through hard vegetables and chocolate just fine.

Used the Dexter-Russell 40013 Duo-Glide 5" Utility Knife to cut celery. The blade cuts celery so well. Glad with the purchase. Arrived fast and neatly packaged.

Pass on this one. Sharp the first time you use it. By the third time, won't even cut a tomato! I will probably buy a sharpening stone just to be able to continue using, but just don't buy this at all. I tried it for the size. Slightly larger than a pairing knife, yet smaller than a chef's knife. Looks nice, but does not remain sharp. Totally disappointed should have bought the brand my neighbor recommended for the same price.
Thank you for your review! We are sorry to hear that the knife you purchased has difficulty staying sharp. For a sharper edge, try Mercer's Deba (Utility) Knife.
