This Beverage-Air PRD2HC-1AS 52" stainless steel solid door pass-through refrigerator is the perfect solution to cold storage in your restaurant kitchen, bakery, or other commercial food preparation area. To withstand heavy-use in a commercial environment, the exterior and interior are both stainless steel. It's also fortified with foamed-in-place CFC and HCFC-free polyurethane insulation for structural integrity and superior temperature retention. The pass-through design makes it perfect for placing between prep areas for dual-access. Load product from one side, and remove it for continued prep or service from the other side.
This unit features 4 solid doors with door locks for extra food safety and security. If you are taking several loads to or from this unit, you can override the self-closing system by opening the doors 120 degrees so that they stay open until you manually close them.
Inside, the refrigerator provides 49.7 cu. ft. of cold storage space and has 6 heavy-duty epoxy coated wire shelves for safe, sanitary storage. Each shelf comes with four shelf clips that must be field installed. Each shelf is also adjustable in 1/2" increments, making it easy to configure the shelves to best suit your products. Plus, for visibility, bright lighting illuminates the interior so that your staff can easily see and quickly retrieve ingredients.
This particular unit uses environmentally friendly R-290 refrigerant in a self-contained refrigeration system to help you meet your goals of making your foodservice business more eco-friendly. This specialized refrigerant has an ozone depletion potential (ODP) of 0 and a global warming potential (GWP) of 3, making it an environmentally responsible choice for your business. With a top mount refrigeration system, it also won't suck in dirt and dust from the floor and clog as frequently as a bottom mount system. Maintaining temperatures between 36 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit, the refrigeration system is powered by a robust 1/3 hp compressor. Plus, easy-to-use, electronic controls make for intuitive operation. This refrigerator requires a 115V electrical connection for operation.

Does Beverage-Air warrant this item for use in a food truck?
This item is covered under Beverage-Air's warranty contingent upon the unit being kept in a controlled climate. This means that the interior of the food truck may not be susceptible to extreme high or low temperatures. If warranty service is required, the truck must be able to sit stationary for 24-48 hours to allow for a technician to service the equipment.
I haven’t heard of R-290, R-600a, R-513a, or R-448A refrigerant before. What is it?
R-290 (also known as high purity propane or CARE 40) and R-600a (also known as refrigerant grade Isobutane or CARE 10) are hydrocarbon refrigerants. R513a (also known as Opteon XP10) and R-448A (also known as Solstice N40) are HFO (hydrofluoroolefin) refrigerants. They are being used by some manufacturers in response to the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program.
Should items be stored on top of a refrigerator with a top mounted compressor?
No, for ventilation and protection of the refrigeration system, nothing should sit on top of a unit with a top mounted compressor.
What does the “H” or “HC” mean in the newer Beverage-Air model numbers?
This is a representation that the unit is using a “Hydrocarbon” refrigerant. This would include both R290 and R600a refrigerants. They are being used as an eco-friendly refrigerant by Beverage-Air in response to the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) Program. I ordered 4 of these units for various locations. One was good for about 7 months before water starting leaking from the top unit and temperature started fluctuating (up to about 60 degrees). Another lasted about 2 months before the same issue.
Warranty is relatively useless as well. The repair company sent out to repair one of the units (4 times over the course of several months) eventually declined to come out again as the warranty company would not even submit the claims in the proper fashion for the repair company to get reimbursed. They eventually came out after some involvement with upper management. I don't know why the repair company was unable to fix the problem within the first 3 attempts. Could be the technician wasn't doing their job well or the product itself has serious problems.
